About GREEN-LOG
The world is experiencing unparalleled growth in last-mile transport following the unprecedented growth of e-commerce. This new reality brings a number of challenges to urban and peri-urban ecosystems and puts immense pressure on courier companies for seamless servicing of higher volume home deliveries. Against this backdrop, GREEN-LOG, the Horizon Europe co-funded project, aims to accelerate systemic changes and create last-mile delivery ecosystems that are economically, ecologically, and socially sustainable. GREEN-LOG offers Logistics-as-a-Service platforms for interconnected city logistics, automated delivery concepts using autonomous vehicles and delivery droids, cargo-bike-based innovations for sustainable micro-consolidation, and multimodal parcel deliveries integrating public transportation. The solutions are supported by networked city logistics dataspaces that supply dynamic services for proactive ecosystem optimisation while respecting the interests of stakeholders including consumers, businesses, and the city. The GREEN-LOG approach is deployed and validated in five Urban Living Labs, an inclusive set of demonstration sites that cover EU regions with different Urban Logistics characteristics and varying challenges. Three follower cities that experience rapid economic and social change and are highly interested in tailoring and replicating GREEN-LOG solutions will benefit from intensive transferability acceleration actions. |

Towards Sustainable Last-Mile Delivery: Insights from GREEN-LOG’s Co-creation Workshops In a series of dynamic and collaborative workshops, the EU-funded GREEN-LOG project has made significant strides in its path to redefine last-mile logistics across Europe. GREEN-LOG is a part of a cluster of three co-funded Horizon Europe projects, together with DECARBOMILE and URBANE. The cluster focuses on the take-up and upscale of innovative, safe and sustainable last-mile delivery solutions. It also aims to facilitate lessons learning and sharing at the European level, notably through the CIVITAS Initiative. Our Focus With the goal of improving urban space use, air quality, noise and safety and the overall livability of cities, our three projects are exploring innovative solutions, tools and instruments such as: - clean vehicles and modes,
- dynamic e-routing,
- load policies,
- lockers,
- micro-consolidation centres,
- optimised delivery technologies and processes including improved tracking, logistics-as-a-service, delivery robots, multimodal deliveries and AI and CCAM solutions.

GREEN-LOG made a notable appearance at the Transport Research Arena (TRA) 2024, showcasing its recent accomplishments and inventive solutions to researchers, policymakers, and industry professionals in the transportation sector. Under the theme of “Transport Transitions: Advancing Sustainable and Inclusive Mobility”, this foremost European transport and mobility research and innovation conference, took place from 15 to 18 April 2024 in Dublin, Ireland and gathered more than 4,000 stakeholders. GREEN-LOG was thrilled to have participated in the 2nd CIVINET Forum that took place on 28-30 May 2024 in Athens, Greece. Amalia Ntemou from Netcompany-Intrasoft presented the project’s concepts, innovations and latest developments. This exciting three-day event brought together the sustainable mobility know-how and experience of cities and islands across Europe. With a theme inspired by the New European Bauhaus – “moving more sustainably, making our lives better together” – the forum brought together around 500 professionals, including politicians, mobility practitioners, researchers, students, industry representatives, start-uppers, civil society members, creative artists, and citizens. GREEN-LOG, represented by Amalia Ntemou from Netcompany-Intrasoft, took part at the Data Week 2024 on 12 March 2024, in Darmstadt, Germany! The event was organised by the BDVA under the umbrella of the Data Spaces Symposium 2024. Data Week 2024 featured sessions, panels and talks delivered by European and national level high-level speakers and leading Big Data Value and Industrial AI industry and research experts. Data Week 2024 focused on the fundamental elements of Data Value creation. Artificial intelligence (AI) serves as a pivotal tool in unlocking data value through various means. Creating value from data also requires viewing it from an ecosystem perspective and fostering collaboration among multiple stakeholders, which lays the groundwork needed for research excellence, that is required to be rapidly put into action for competitiveness and societal benefit. Organised by the Data Spaces Support Centre (DSSC) and the Data Spaces Business Alliance (DSBA), the Data Spaces Symposium is a pivotal gathering for those at the forefront of data space innovation and strategy. It serves as a platform to showcase the latest market-ready use cases, advanced technology solutions for existing and emerging data spaces, and the essential work done by the DSSC in crafting a foundational blueprint for common European data spaces, aligning with the European Data Strategy.
